Read and learn as much as you can about them. Info on the net is good but you do have to becareful b/c they're are peoples opions too not always facts. I highly suggest to anyone who has a leopard gecko to get Ron Tremper's book, it by far the best and not just for breeder's. Before that book came out, we started breeding and I bought about 5 other books and was reading all the care sheets on net and everywhere else that I could find. But I can tell you that I couldn't find all the info that I wanted/needed as you can in this book and all in one spot. You can get it on his site and it's only 1/2 the price now. It's worth it!! His site is leopardgecko.com you can get it there.
A good tip is leave new geckos alone until they're eating reguarly. If you have any questions let me know, I can talk about leos all day and how much I've learned since keeping and breeding them. It's alot of fun and truly amazing! Also breeding my own mealworms- wish I would have started earlier, as soon as I got my 1st and if I only had 1 gecko I'd still breed my worms, it's so easy and rewarding, not just to save money, but for your gecko it's 10 times healthier! Plus most people I know and myself once we got our 1st gecko I had several in a matter of weeks they're addicting becareful!! HA. HA. _________________ Jessica

My brother is "addicted" to collecting critters. His first where the leopard gecko and a crested gecko. The crested is cool because he has those sticky toes and crawl around on the glass. Since then he has collected two more leos, a fat tail and a chameleon. I did find myself walking into his room alot just checking them all out and watching all their different characteristics. That is how i recieved his first two hatchlings. However for a first timer with any dealing with geckos it is frustrating. Two weeks old and they're stressing me out. I hear from alot of people that they dont always survive. I just dont want to torture them if they're not going to make it. I am trying daily to make them happy and comfortable. The beat goes on. Sorry for the rant.
