I. Introduction
The primary goal of Gecko File is the dissemination of gecko husbandry information and an Easy Portal access to breeders, collectors and keepers worldwide. II. Forum rules
A. We are quickly building up a community of highly experienced Gecko Owners and Breeders, please be respectful of their opinions. Sometimes they are right, sometimes not, but realize a lot of them do this for a living and are very passionate about what they do.
B. A ranking system has gone into place and is as follows:
Rank 1 - 1 Post
Rank 2 - 25 Posts
Rank 3 - 100 Posts
Rank 4 - 250 Posts
Rank 5 - 500 Posts
Rank 6 - 1000 Posts
Rank 7 - 2000 Posts
Five Star Ranking - 5000 Posts or appointed by an administrator
C. Keep the forums alive. Several people monitor the forum every few hours, if you have a question, ask it. I promise you someone will see it within a couple of hours.
D. I do not and will never have a formal warning system for violation of the rules. I will simply contact you privately to discuss any infraction. If the behavior continues, you will no longer be allowed to post on the forums. Simple as that.
E. The moderators help keep the forums running smoothly, but I am the only one who can ban a member. The moderators can warn members. Please let me know if you feel a moderator is being unfair.
F. Always try to remain on-topic. There are numerous forums on Gecko File, so you should have no problem finding the appropriate forum for your post(s).
G. Trolling, flaming, name-calling, and any general harassment will not be tolerated. Please do not clutter my forums with such trash. If you have a problem with someone, contact that person privately. The BOI is the ideal place to post experiences with breeders.
H. Spamming is not permitted. Enough said.
I. Discrimination will not be tolerated. If you are unsure what constitutes discrimination, you might want to read the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1991.
J. Posting information about illegal behavior or activities is not permitted.
K. Always be appropriate. There are folks of all ages and backgrounds on the forums. I want everyone to feel comfortable on here, so any nudity, "adult" material, and profanity is prohibited. I definitely support free speech, but there are many young members on here. The subjectivity of "adult" material may become an issue. If there is any doubt as to the appropriateness of a topic, do not post it.
III. Topsites
A1. As this is a Gecko themed list, all sites must be Gecko themed. Sites devoted to breeding, keeping and photography meet this requirement.
A2. If you have a general Reptile site, it must have an entire section about Geckos and your link must be directed to that section.
B. All content on your site should be family friendly. Anything on your site that is not family friendly (language, pictures, etc.) can cause your site to be removed.
C. Place a voting banner on your website.
IV Shout Box
Our Shout Box is a great way for Gecko File members to get to know each other. Members are expected to follow the same T.O.S. in Chat as they do while using the forums
