Yes it is black. I have no clue what morph is popular or anything about leo morphs. All I know is that I thought they were supposed to be normals and they are not. _________________ Tile is great, if your lizards are indigenous to your bathroom!! |

WOW That's really cool!! I have an idea of how they could have produced offspring. I showed this to my husband to see what he thinks too. He said that most likely the parents are normals double het for albino and blizzard or het blazing blizzard and that's how you produced an albino and a blizzard. They could have been possible hets but by breeding them you proved them to be 100% het! I can see how they can ended up at the petstore b/c in our area they will buy diifferent morphs (instead of just normals) from local breeder's. I can tell you for sure that the 1st gecko is a Albino. Which means that both gecko's have to be het albino (the same type albino too) to produce a albino w/ both parents being normals. Looks like a Tremper, plus they're the most common too by far. Now the 2nd gecko looks to have solid black eyes! Are the eyes black? It's a Blizzard (we've hatched them) and they are known to have different eyes sometimes being solid black or snake eyes. Well about the gecko possibly being Melanistic I say it's not for sure, I looked it up in my book The Hepetoculture of Leopard Geckos and it showed a pic of a juvenile melanistic that Tremper produced back in 2001 and it is alot darker then yours on the entire body. It doesn't look like the same morph to me. In the book it states "Melanisic: is a predominantly black gecko of any pattern phase" and the young that have strong tendcies towards this over-abundance of melanin hatch w/ white lips, white toe tips, and all black hind legs." I don't believe there are any geckos of this morph that has hatched yet again, unfortulantly. But it's only a matter of time though I have a feeling they could be available soon the possiblites are unlimited! Do you have any more gecko's hatching to compare them too. Time will also tell, as many leopard geckos go through many changes. You will see their color and patterns change very often in their first year. Either way on what they are, you have a couple really nice geckos. i'd say you made out pretty good.Keep us posted on any more hachlings from these 2 geckos, and if you can show us some pics of the parents. _________________ Jessica
