Razz It has been two weeks since both of my Leos hatched. This whole time I have been waiting for their first shed. They wont eat and their basically starving. So I tried to force feed them yesterday and today one finally shed their first shed. Yeeeech, I was getting worried. Hopefully the other one will follow in its track.

They had to have shed within the 2 weeks, you probably just didn't realize it. It's very hard to notice it's so qiuck. But we've bred out alot of leos over the past years and they always shed within about 5-7 days (and some even quicker), I doubt they ever go over a full week. People often think they will see they're leo shed, and this isn't true. The hatchlings also shed more often then adults, that most times you wont even notice when they're about to shed because it's all so quick at least the 1st couple times. What are you trying to feed them? Use tiny meal worms if your not. What I look for is poop to tell my hatchling shed, once I see that then I give them a lid of worms w/ calcium. But there have been a couple times when I know they've shed, even though there isn't any poop I can see, if it's been a 5-7 days and I will just give them worms anyways b/c it's very easy to miss the poop is so tiny, esp. the very 1st one, so it can be easy to miss, even in the shoebox container we keep the hatchlings in. We also keep the cage very simple for the hatchings- papertowel for substrate, hide ( upside down plant water catcher w/ door cut in), water and mealworm dish, and I think it helps the gecko's not become overwelmed b/c all my have always done good and started eating ASAP. By at least 1 week old they're eating everyday! Also you might try rasing the humidity for the gecko to shed, if they're not shedding for that long then that's what the problem is. I would lightly mist the papertowel that's over the heat and hide for your gecko 1 time a day. This should help them start shedding properly in no time. Hope this help keeps us updated.

I appreciate all and any help. I am desperate and will try anything. So far I have misted everyday. Sometimes even twice a day. I will try the meal worms. So far I have mashed up crickets and they will lick just not bite or eat. They are my brothers lizards in the sense that they are stubborn just like my brother. Grrrrr. But...they're damn cute.

thats probably why . most geckos don't eat dead stuff .

mini mealworms are the norm for hatchlings . Some people also feed baby roaches but I find then to hard to catch .
